JOB SUMMARY 

The Night Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for supervising all Sanitation staff, operations, and activities, including coordinating cleaning and sanitizing the entire production facility and equipment.   The Night Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for tracking employees' labor hours and approving time charges for staff under their supervision. The Night Sanitation Supervisor works closely with the Quality Control Manager and the Plant Manager to ensure all work performed by the Company conforms to the Company's quality standards and government food safety regulations and guidelines. 

AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY 

  • Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Night Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the sanitation schedule mirrors the production schedule to ensure timely and proper cleaning of the facility and all equipment per company, food safety, and all government regulations
  • The Night Sanitation Supervisor ensures all end-of-production activities are completed in accordance with company and regulatory agency policies
  • The Night Sanitation Supervisor is additionally responsible for troubleshooting issues with sanitation, equipment, and staffing 
  • Ensures staff reporting to him/her follow all appropriate safety and quality protocols and procedures
  • The Night Sanitation Supervisor will have the knowledge and training – from equipment operation to the number of staff necessary to operate it - to clean and sanitize all production lines, working hands-on during the sanitation process, and is responsible for the success of each individual production line being properly dismantled, cleaned, sanitized, and stored

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The responsibilities and duties of the Night Sanitation Supervisor consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervise all sanitation staff, operations, and activities; and ensure that all work is complete in accordance with customer and Company work specifications
  • Update the Quality Control Manager on a daily basis on the labor, equipment, parts, and supplies needed in the plant to successfully complete all tasks
  • Update the Quality Control Manager and Production Manager on a daily basis on the condition of equipment, the need for maintenance, the need for replacement, and/or the need for additional equipment to meet the needs of the work functions in the plant
  • Actively engage in on-the-job training with new employees
  • Able to clean and sanitize all lines/machines, from set up to shut down, as well as provide hands-on assistance during operation
  • Follow work priorities and schedules established by management to ensure that the plant meets or exceeds all established production quantity goals and/or requirements; bring any problems that could adversely influence the Company’s ability to attain its production goals and/or schedules to the immediate attention of the Quality Control Manager
  • Ensure that materials, parts, and/or supplies needed for specific orders or for plant equipment are communicated to the Quality Control Manager on a timely basis and in proper quantities
  • Active participant in solving problems and keeping informed of any negative variations indicated by Quality Control
  • Monitor the progress of all work being performed on an ongoing basis, and immediately inform the Production Manager of any problems encountered or anticipated
  • Assign staff to cover all needed positions to ensure quality work performance, adjusting as necessary and skill set dictates 
  • Institute corrective actions as directed by the Quality Control Manager to overcome any schedule slippage or other production problems
  • Provide feedback and enforce written procedures for the various plant operations as deemed necessary by the Management to ensure accurate documentation of the Company’s requirements for the performance of the operations in question
  • Monitor all plant activities to ensure that all work being performed is in conformance to the production order/contract and Company procedures
  • Perform any other corporate functions as directed by Company management to assure the smooth and efficient operation of the Company
  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
    • The Night Sanitation Supervisor must be a hands-on, self-starting, detail-oriented person who is able to identify needs, then initiate and implement results with strong interpersonal skills and be able to foster and promote a team atmosphere. The Sanitation Supervisor possesses product knowledge of equipment and parts, as well as assembly and repair skills, and supervisory skills that are essential to a smooth, efficient flow of work through the plant.
    • The minimum job requirements, representing the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities necessary to meet these requirements, are listed in the following paragraphs:
    • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
    • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience a plus 
    • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
      1. The Sanitation Supervisor will spend prolonged periods of time standing in production areas, including working in refrigerated production areas for the majority of the day
      2. Must have good hand use and finger dexterity to handle or feel objects, operate various types of equipment 
      3. Ability to lift or move operational supplies and equipment that may exceed 50 pounds, on a regular basis
      4. Must have command of all five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste; vision, with traditional correction, must be sufficient to shift in focus from operations lighting in refrigeration areas to office environments
      5. Fluency in the English Language (read, write, and speak) is required.  Multilingual is preferred.

      6. Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business and professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, or recipes; clearly and concisely prepare reports, business correspondence, and answer questions from management, customers, vendors, and employees
      7. Familiar with mathematical concepts and fundamentals.
      8. Able to operate a wide variety of tools, including forklifts and hand-held power equipment; must be able to climb and work at heights
  • At Willow Tree, we depend on all of our employees. Therefore, it is essential that attendance be 100%. This functional position requires eight (8) to ten (10) hour workdays, five (5) to six (6) days per week. Saturday work is occasionally necessary, as are early- and late-weekday meetings for management and staff. On-call coverage may also be required.
