Job Description

The Construction Engineer supports the Senior Director of Construction on multiple projects across various locations. This individual is the organizational backbone for project coordination — managing schedules, tracking critical dates, overseeing documentation, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. This is a hybrid role blending hands-on construction project management with administrative coordination, making it ideal for a candidate with junior-to-mid-level construction experience who is eager to grow.

Project Management & Coordination

• Assemble bid packages on projects once documents are received from the Development team
• Conduct plan reviews against work letters to ensure accuracy
• Review plans with knowledge of specifications and identify opportunities to value engineer
• Identify risks beforehand and resolve potential issues with architects, engineers, general contractors, and subcontractors as needed to stay on schedule and on budget
• Submit plans to tenants for comments and ensure timely responses are received
• Oversee plan revisions as changes occur to finish projects on time and on budget
• Manage all bid and construction RFIs
• Obtain utility designs and fees that correspond with plans in a timely manner
• Create and manage schedules, task generation, time estimates, milestones, and deadlines to complete projects on time
• Schedule project kickoff meetings
• Obtain special inspection estimates and launch once purchase of property is recorded
• Prepare and follow job submittals to ensure all end results meet expectations
• Track revised city, county, and health department document submittals during the construction process for accuracy
• Collect all permits from tenants' TIs as well as from general contractors
  

Project Tracking & Administration

• Manage the department's task management software (ClickUp) by entering tasks, assigning them to appropriate team members, and strictly monitoring due dates
• Review project RFI and Submittal due dates daily; send proactive reminders to the team to prevent schedule delays
  

Financial & Utility Coordination

• Manage utility coordination by collecting, completing, and submitting applications as needed
• Set up and participate in the transfer of utility accounts for new and existing projects
• Process check requests and approve payment requests for vendors
• Manage invoices for reimbursements to ensure timely payment
  

Marginal Duties

• Visit job sites as needed to resolve problems and meet project deadlines
• Respond to warranty ticket requests as needed
• Coordinate and attend meetings as required; take minutes or track action items
• Assist the Senior Director of Construction with special projects as needs arise

Required Education, Experience & Licenses

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• At least 1+ years of relevant hands-on construction project management experience with the ability to read plans required
• Working knowledge of permitting and inspection requirements preferred
• Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel, as well as calendar management and general technology is required
• Experience with Mac iOS is a plus
• Valid Driver's License
