Position Title: Parking Lot Attendant

Reports To: Parking Manager

Range: $15.25 - $17.00/hr non-exempt (Hourly rate commensurate with work experience)

Our 36-acre park is home to North America’s longest-running outdoor music festival and its most artistically diverse. Over 100 different events, featuring a mix of classical, rock, pop, jazz, R&B, indie, and country performers, make up a typical summer season across our open-air and indoor stages, including the annual residency of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Position Summary:

Parking Lot Attendants play a key role in supporting Ravinia’s overall guest experience. You will be responsible for directing vehicles efficiently and safely within Ravinia’s three onsite parking lots, ensuring smooth traffic flow and optimal use of parking spaces.

As one of the first points of contact for guests, Parking Lot Attendants provide a welcoming presence and assist with general inquiries, contributing to a positive first impression of the organization. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to respond to a variety of guest questions in a professional manner.

Parking Lot Attendants also support shuttle bus operations at the conclusion of performances, helping to ensure an organized and efficient departure experience for guests.

Shifts vary and may include hours from park opening through park closing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct vehicles efficiently and safely into designated parking areas to support smooth traffic flow

  • Develop a strong knowledge of the park to provide accurate directions and information to guests

  • Escalate inquiries appropriately when needed to ensure guests receive timely and accurate assistance

  • Assist guests with boarding shuttle buses following concerts, helping to ensure an organized and efficient departure process

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to address concerns and show empathy towards others

  • Must enjoy interacting with the public

  • Ability to work responsibly unsupervised

  • Willingness to ask questions and learn

  • Flexible with scheduling that includes evening hours weekdays and weekends

  • Must be at least 16 years of age or older to apply

Work Environment

  • The Ravinia season runs from July through September. Priority in hiring will be given to applicants who are available to work the entire season.

  • This position is outdoors and in all weather conditions with prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.

  • It requires mostly afternoon/evening hours. Applicants must be available for both weekday and weekend hours.
