Epic Special Education Staffing is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter for Extended School Year (ESY) services to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing in dynamic educational settings. In this role, you will partner closely with special education teachers, related service providers, and school teams to ensure students have full access to instruction, peer interaction, and school activities during the ESY term. Drawing on your strong American Sign Language (ASL) skills and understanding of educational interpreting, you will provide accurate, age-appropriate interpretation between spoken English and ASL in classrooms, small groups, and individual sessions. As a Sign Language Interpreter ESY with Epic, you will facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, service providers, and families, helping to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment. You will interpret classroom lessons, discussions, directions, and school events, adjusting your language and approach to match each student’s communication style and educational level. You may support students in a variety of settings, including academic classes, related services, social activities, and transition or vocational experiences, ensuring that all information is conveyed in a manner that promotes understanding and engagement. You will collaborate with teachers and the special education team to understand lesson objectives, IEP goals, and accommodations so that your interpreting work aligns with each student’s individualized needs. This includes preparing for classes by reviewing materials in advance when possible, clarifying terminology with staff, and providing feedback on communication access issues that may impact student participation. You will maintain professional boundaries while serving as a communication bridge, following confidentiality guidelines, ethical standards, and school policies at all times. Epic Special Education Staffing connects qualified professionals with schools seeking dedicated staff to support students with special needs, and this ESY position is an opportunity to directly impact student success over the summer. Epic values inclusivity and teamwork, fostering a collaborative environment where interpreters, teachers, and therapists support one another and share ideas to better serve students. In this role, you will be encouraged to use your expertise, collaborate on problem-solving, and contribute to a positive, student-centered culture. Depending on district needs, you may provide services on-site in school buildings, in community-based instructional settings, or through approved virtual or hybrid formats. Flexibility, professionalism, and reliable attendance during the ESY schedule are essential. You will document services in alignment with school and Epic expectations, communicate promptly with supervisors about student needs or schedule changes, and participate in team meetings as requested. This ESY assignment is ideal for interpreters who value meaningful, focused work with students over the summer and who are committed to supporting equitable access to education. By joining Epic as a Sign Language Interpreter for ESY, you will help ensure that students who are deaf or hard of hearing can fully participate in learning, social interaction, and school life, while working in a collaborative setting that values your skills and dedication.
