Job Description

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to support mission-critical enterprise systems in Salt Lake City. In this role, you will work as part of a consulting delivery team, contributing to the stability, enhancement, and modernization of large-scale mainframe applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional and distributed teams to address complex business and technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.

This job will have the following responsibilities:
Collaborate with product management and business stakeholders to analyze requirements and deliver scalable solutions
Design, develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM
Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to secure coding and development standards
Support application maintenance, production stability, and enhancements across multiple systems
Debug and resolve complex technical issues efficiently
Create and maintain technical documentation, including system designs and operational procedures
Coordinate development activities and deliverables with offshore and distributed teams
Provide on-call support and assist with production issue resolution
Support application releases, audits, and user-reported issues
Serve as a subject-matter expert and mentor junior developers

Qualifications & Requirements:
5+ years of experience supporting and maintaining mainframe applications
Strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM
Experience working in large, distributed development environments
Ability to collaborate effectively with offshore teams
Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience documenting technical systems and processes
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Assembler and EZtrieve
Familiarity with Endevor or similar mainframe source control tools
Prior experience in enterprise or consulting environments
