Performs skilled administrative support work providing specialized services and programs for the library. The normal work schedule includes Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and/or Friday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and every other Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. per month

Provides technical and reference assistance to children, parents, teachers, and other customers, at Outreach locations, the Main Library, the Spangler Branch, community partner facilities, and satellite branch locations.

Assists the Outreach and Community Engagement Manager in scheduling, planning, and presenting youth services and adult services programs.

Assists in planning, publicizing, and conducting story times, Summer Reading Programs, Battle of the Books and other reading promotions.

Will deliver library materials (books, A/V materials, and kits) driving a van or the bookmobile.

Instructs customers in how to use the library and its print and electronic resources; assists the public in person, by telephone, or via virtual chat; gives out specific information and instructions.

According to the Crew Manual of weeding or the deselection of materials, remove materials from the librarys catalog; process customer hold requests, and requests for new materials.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or GED and 2 years experience in a library setting, education system or customer service, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate or bachelors degree preferred, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of integrated library systems and applications

Microsoft office and/or Google Suite

Knowledge of library collection development best practices, materials and research techniques

Ability to analyze records and statistics

Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment

Ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library customers, library staff, and community partners.

Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities

Work is generally in a quiet location (e.g. library, private offices).

This role must work from the location identified at the time of hire with work travel required as needed. Any change of work location, even on a short-term or interim basis, must be reviewed by the Supervisor and HR for approval.

License & Certifications:

Valid drivers license and insurable drivers record
