Cook

To plan, prepare and serve delicious and nutritious meals to Mt. Angel School District students and staff in the most efficient and effective manner.

Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position must be able to perform with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. 21 years of age or older
3. Ability to serve and prepare food, including meats and other main dishes, salads, sandwiches, desserts and work with portion control
4. Ability to learn to operate industrial dishwashers, mixers, ovens, other related school kitchen equipment, appliances, and utensils
5. Ability to supervise cook assistant and student helpers who work in the kitchen/cafeteria
6. Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, and staff
7. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions with speed and accuracy
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality
9. Such alternative to the above requirements as the School Board or the Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable
10. Supervise the preparation of all foods
11. Responsible for any aspect of food preparation, serving and cleaning
12. Assist in the serving of food to students and staff, ensuring supplies of food and beverages are maintained and spills are cleaned up
13. Responsible for following standards of efficiency and sanitation set by the Health Department and Cook Manager / Food Service Director
14. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff
15. Knowledge of basic computer skills, including data and word processing
16. Participate in in-service training as assigned
17. Act as a friendly ambassador for the Mt. Angel School District
18. Perform such other tasks (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may seem appropriate to the Board or Administration
19. Abides by federal and state laws and school district policies, procedures and rules.
20. Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with community and staff.
21. Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
22. Complies with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
23. Attends work regularly and is punctual.
24. Perform such other duties (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may be assigned.

2026-2027 school year

6.5 hours per day

Pay range: $21.07 - $25.92/hour

Contract length: 183 days

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience in meal planning, serving and cooking for large groups required
• Oregon Food Handler Card required
• Experience in a school setting preferred
